In order to help improve the service that we offer to our external customers, we’ve decided that it’s important to invest in our most valuable assets… our people.

So, as a start, we’ve decided to implement a series of training programms in the IT technology that we use in order to allow us to deal with things more quickly & efficiently which will not only benefit our customers, but also ourselves.

Sam is the first “under the cosh” and is today looking at some basic PC skills (including blogging!) and the intricacies of Outlook; later in the month, she’ll be updating her Word skills & then it’s Eddy & Dorothy’s turn.

We’re receiving the training on a one-to-one basis from Colin Foster of Universal Solutions 4 Business who came highly recomended by our web designers – AsOne
. We’re using Colin’s company as he was prepared to personalise the training to exactly what we needed, rather than selling us a standard “off the shelf” course.

We’ll then be following this up with more Microsoft, Sage & ACT training

Giving back Vintage Cars all the strength they deserve!

We have been recently contacted by Steve, a vintage sports car enthusiast. He is currently working on a 1937 Aston Martin 2 ltr Speed Model with “Ulster” bodywork. As a member of the Vintage Sports-car Club, Steve needs his Aston Martin to be in perfect shape on both design and performance aspects.

This is why he came to us looking for an exhaust wrap that he could use on his exhaust pipe running all along the side of his car. As you can see on the pictures, his exhaust is fitted as a ‘brookland can’, a style that can be found on many vintage sports-cars and resembles a motorcycle fitting. This particular type of exhaust system runs along the body of the car next to the driver in the cockpit. The G-Force exhaust wrap was particularly good choice for this kind of application. Thanks to its high abrasion resistance, the exhaust wrap is able to support rough external conditions while still providing a very high quality heat insulation.

Steve himself is delighted by the quality of our G-Force exhaust wrap and we must say that we are pretty proud of what he said about it. Judge by yourself:

“The performance of your wrap is fantastic, shielding me from the exhaust that runs alongside the driver just 6 inches from my arm. I must say that the performance of the material is fantastic with very little heat conducted even after prolonged use of the engine. The exhaust system is virtually unbaffled with the main “brooklands can” silencer just inches from the driver. Whilst running, the wrapped exhaust can be held comfortably with little heat conducted through the wrap, which has only been wrapped a single time around the exhaust with 3/8″ overlap. We used a couple of the stainless ties as supplied at each end to hold the wrap in place. This is sufficient and holds the bandage firmly in place.”

This is another proof that exhaust wraps can be essential for the engine’s performance while providing supplementary security to the drivers themselves. Steve will be taking part in several races organised by his club with the exhaust wrap fitted on his car.

We are pleased to announce that we have recently been contacted by the Rob Austin Racing Team to provide them with engine heat protection solutions!

The Rob Austin Racing Team is highly professional and skilled and needs high quality products to make sure that they get the best out of their engines. Rob Austin was not only a racer but also motorsports lover, that is why he created his own racing team in 2005. They have been running since then in different championships around the UK and the rest of Europe. They are currently running up for the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) and have been racing in Thruxton last weekend with their Audi A4 Racer. This car has been equipped with our reflective heat shield tape that the team fitted on electrical cables around the engine’s turbo.

However, the team could only show off their racing skills during the first of three races. They indeed suffered some technical problems with their engine, forcing them to stop. At least, this incident brought us some pretty neat looking pictures!

But don’t worry! The team is now preparing for the next race at the Oulton Park Island circuit on the 5th of June, and they will without doubt be ready more than ever to excel their performance!
Keep an eye out for more information about the Rob Austin Racing Team. We are pretty sure that only the best can come out from this new partnership!

As you might already know, we have been following Andy during his preparation for a great trip accross Europe and the Middle-East. If you have missed the beginning, you can still find more information in our previous post .

We are pleased to see that Andy finished to apply the exhaust wrap we have provided him with on his motorcycle. Andy is using our G-Force exhaust wrap which is a graphite impregnated heat cleaned wrap. It is designed to widstand constant high level temperatures (up to 550°C) while increasing the perfomance of the motorcycle’s engine. These features might come in very useful when Andy will be riding his motorcycle accross Syria where temperatures can reach 40°C under sunlight!

As you can see on these pictures the black color of our G-Force Wrap fits perfectly well on the engine of Andy’s motorcycle.

The black color of the wrap gives a stylish look to the exhausts tubes as it merges smoothly in the overall look
of the engine .

Andy is without doubt the kind of guy everyone would certainly enjoy to meet, just to find out that he is as interesting as he seems to be!

At 23 years old, this young man from Slough, Berkshire in the west of London is indeed off to a great adventure throughout Europe. Aiming to Syria where he wishes to spend 2 to 3 months, Andy plans to travel across Europe and a part of Middle East with his backpack and riding his motorcycle, a customised XT660 (see picture). Andy already had an aborted first try 5 years earlier that had to end in Albania due to low finances and some bad planning issues. But this time is the right one! “Now I’m 23, graduated, have an ‘appropriate’ bike and have been planning and researching for the past 7 months so I have to go”, says Andy and then adding, “No matter what.”

His plan is to ride straight to Slovakia, then go through Romania and Bulgaria to reach Turkey and follow the Coast from there to end his challenging trip in Syria. The whole ride should last around 2 to 3 weeks.

Of course, as Andy said himself, the preparation of the entire journey took months and that is because Andy is a far-sighted person! To ride on such long distances, security is also a matter of having the right equipment to be sure that one’s bike will not break down halfway to the destination. This is when Andy came to us to provide him with our best heat protective exhaust wraps and heat reflective tapes. He did not want to lose on his performance while protecting his valuable engine parts. Since the temperature in Syria can rise above 40°C, the exhaust wrap has to be extremely resistant to support the constant high temperature a motorcycle engine is likely to emit.

Andy is now on the process to add the final details to the customisation of his bike and will be ready to ride safely by the end of June. He plans to start his trip in the beginning of July at the latest. Leaving us with dreams of exotic landscapes and cultures, Andy will certainly make to most out of this amazing journey through the ‘old continent’!

We will be keeping a close eye on Andy’s great adventure so be sure to stay tuned for updates on the evolution of his motorbike and his travel!

Visit our website thermalvelocity.co.uk for more information on the products Andy is using for his preparation.
